Bezwada Biomedical LLC announced today the issuance of United States Patent No. 7,671,168 entitled, “Unsymmetrical aromatic ether diacids and absorbable polymers therefrom”. This newly-issued patent covers unsymmetrical ether diacids which can be used as monomers for preparation of absorbable polymers. The patent also covers the application of these unsymmetrical ether diacid molecules. Key areas where these molecules can be used include:

• Linkers and crosslinkers
• Synthesis of radiation stable oligomers and polymers for biomedical applications
• Physical property modifiers

The polymers derived from these unsymmetrical ether diacids can be used in a variety of biomedical applications including controlled drug delivery, adhesion prevention barriers, and wound healing.
